John Hommel currently serves as Senior Vice President in the Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) Client Services group, focusing on managing client relationships and ESOP transactions.
Mr. Hommel joined GreatBanc Trust Company in 2014. Prior to joining GreatBanc, Mr. Hommel served as President of North Star Trust, leading its ESOP services. Mr. Hommel has also been in private practice with a Chicago-based law firm, and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.
Since he began his professional career, Mr. Hommel has focused on the fiduciary needs of employee benefit and retirement plans. He has overseen many ESOP transactions in a broad range of industry sectors. He has also written articles for professional and trade publications, and is a frequent lecturer at events and classes. Mr. Hommel is an active member of The ESOP Association, and was the Illinois chapter’s founding President. He is also active with the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO).
Mr. Hommel earned a juris doctor from Notre Dame Law School.
